Each year, this course brings together internationally acclaimed speakers and hundreds of participants to address the latest challenges in school based therapy. Participants leave with immediately applicable strategies and techniques to bring to their students and colleagues.
This year, speakers including Jessica Minahan, Karen Jacobs, and Jennifer Colebourn will provide collaborative approaches to aligning motor needs with educational needs, improving executive function in children who are receiving therapy services in the school setting, and other pressing challenges. Strategies to reduce anxiety and problem behaviors in the classroom, as well as the latest advances in technology to address cognitive deficits and executive skills will also be addressed.
The pre-conference, Zones of Regulation, will be taught by Leah Kuypers, and will provide hands-on knowledge about the nature of self-regulation, and strategies for improving self-regulation and emotional control in individuals of all ages. The presentation will address the brain’s involvement, typical development, sensory processing, emotional regulation, how to determine dosage, and how to assist children with executive functioning.
The course is recommended for physical therapists physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapist assistants, speech-language pathologists, speech assistants, special education coordinators, special educators, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals working with school aged children. Participants will earn contact hours (CEUs) while growing their skills and networking with other therapists and educators. New this year application has been made to the PA State Board of Physical Therapy and the NJ Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for CEU approval.
